German, active in Brazil, 1852 - ca. 1877. Daguerreotypist who later made albumen prints and was a pioneer in stereoscopic photography. Worked as assistant in Rio de Janeiro until opening studio in Petropolis in 1865 at Emperor's Pedro II request. Considered one of best photographers in Brazil.
