(Pers. email: Petr Strnad - Alan Griffiths, 8 May 2012)
My photographic career has evolved since mid 80's when I started work in the Czechoslovakian and later the Czech newspapers and magazines. At first I was employed at military publishing house 'Nase vojsko' and then in a civilian newspapers Cesky denik, Cesky tydenik, Prace, Mlady svet and Novy prostor. Work in these newspapers brought me much closer to reportage and documentary images with an emphasis on social document. At this time I actively recorded the social and political changes in Eastern Europe in the 90's. I took some reportage trips to Romania, former Yugoslavia and Soviet Union.
In the new millennium I worked as a freelance photographer and more I became interested in creative and experimental photography I often employ alternative technologies such as cyanotype or vandyke
