Brilliant scientist and chemist. He worked with Thomas Wedgwood on recording images on light-sensitive materials in about 1799. In 1802 he published the discoveries on light-sensitive properties of silver nitrate in "An Account of a method of copying Paintings upon glass, and of making Profiles, by the agency of Light upon Nitrate of Silver. Invented by T. WEDGWOOD, ESQ. With Observations by H. DAVY." in the Journal of the Royal Institution (Great Britain).
