For over 50 years (1924-1976) he documented the social life of Ayacucho, a small town in the Sierra of Peru creating a legacy of over 60,000 images. Political upheaval in Peru started in 1976 in Ayacucho with the Sendero Luminoso (the Shining Path) and ended in around 2000 - luckily the archive which was in storage survived.
