This exhibition should be seen as a starting point for research. Further research on the work of Arab, Syriac and Armenian photographers of the nineteenth century is being sought. Research should include Issay (Yessai) Garabedian, who took photographs of Jerusalem from 1857 onwards, founded a photographic school and became the Armenian Patriarch in 1865. The students he taught photography to included the Krikorian brothers, Kevork and Garabed. Khalil Raad was also significant in Jerusalem for over 50 years from 1890 onwards.
