"Father, Come Home."

Stereocard, back, printed label
Private collection of George Pek
"Father, Come Home."

Father, dear Father, come home with me now,
The clock in the steeple's strikes one!
You promised, dear Father, that you would come Home,
As soon as your days work was done
Our fire has gone out - our House is all dark,
And Mother's been watching since tea,
With poor Brother Benny so sick in her arms,
And no one to help her but me.

The hymn "Father, dear father, come home with me now" by Henry C. Work (1832-1884) was popular during the Victorian period and was included in church hymnals.

There are variations in the words.
