In the late 1860s he listed himself in the Paris directory as photographer to the Ecole Des Beaux-Arts and his speciality was the nude which served as studies for artists. His work was often based upon poses that copied known sculptures and paintings. In the 1870s he moved to Brussels where he continued with the same subject.
