General Jesup (1788-1860) with his ceremonial sword in hand and ceremonial hat on table. This is the only known extant daguerreian image of the General. He was head of the quartermaster corps US Army for 42 years. The ID is in the same handwriting and style of labeling as that of the Mexican War images at Yale University. General Thomas S. Jesup held the post of Quartermaster General of the United States for forty-two years. He died while still on active duty. (Matt Isenburg)
