The building to the left of the façade of the church became the city’s first hospital for convalescent patients in 1592. In 1780 under Grand Duke Leopold I, it became home to the four Scuole Leopoldine, the first schools in the city which taught girls. Today, the building houses the Alinari Photographic Museum.
