Curatorial notes
Examines how portraits provide on colonialism and the acceptance the dress codes of local populations. This includes both the wearing of local clothing by European travellers and residents along with the indigenous populations of areas being photographed in western clothing styles. Photographs are also included that show interactions between different racial groups.
