One of at least two known variants originally photographed in 3-D. Photographer Herbert Ponting sent this and many other Enami images back to the USA to be published along with his own stereoviews taken in 1901 and early 1902. Good self-portraits of Japanese photographers from the Meiji era are hard to come by; this is certainly one of the better ones.
