Recent winner of the prestigious TED prize and Roloff Beny book award,
 
Edward Burtynsky is a graduate of the Media Studies program at Ryerson Polytechnic University‘s department of Film and Photography. The founder and president of Toronto Image Works, a full service photographic lab and education facility, Mr. Burtynsky also sits on the board of directors for Toronto’s international photography festival, Contact.
 
His large format color photographs of man-altered landscapes have been exhibited at Museums such as the National Gallery of Canada, The Albright Knox Gallery, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Musée d’art Contemporain de Montreal. His recent speaking engagements include the Library of Congress in Washington, George Eastman House in Rochester, the Canadian Center for Architecture in Montreal, ideaCity and the TED conference.
 
His works are housed in many collections worldwide including: The National Gallery of Canada, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The National Gallery of Art in Washington, The Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
