We are always interested in improving the content on this website so please get in contact if you have any suggestions...

At the simplest level a multiple exposure is one where the paper, plate of film is exposed to light two or more times during the overall exposure. To achieve this an overall exposure time is calculated and then divided between the different elements that are to be photographed. The only limit on the number of exposures that can be made is the total exposure time.
