Dates: | 1823, 30 April - 1892, 25 April | Active: | Arctic | A popular artist, traveler and Arctic adventurer. In 1869 he traveled on the steamship Panther to the Arctic with John L. Dunmore and George Critcherson. His book "The Arctic Regions, Illustrated with Photographs Taken on an Art Expedition to Greenland" (London: Chiswick Press for Sampson Low, Marston, Low and Searle, 1873) is one of the classic works of photographic history.
The photographs in his book are usually credited to John Dunmore and George Crichterson but it is now believed that Bradford took many of the photographs himself. We would welcome the results of further research on this.Preparing biographies
