Names: | | Dates: | 1858, 1 November - 1913, 1 May | Active: | Canada | Eldest son of photographer William Notman (1826-1891). He became a partner in his father's company in 1882 and inherited it in 1891 on the death of his father. His brother Charles (1870-1955) was made a partner in around 1894. William McFarlane Notman traveled widely in the West of what would later become Canada between 1884 until arround 1899 often using a Canadian Pacific Railroad (CPR) rail car that was equipped with a darkroom.
