In 1894 Pope advertised for a photographer in the Journal of the Photographic Society of India:
‘WANTED.— A competent man to travel and take photographs. Salary, 50 Rs. Per month. All travelling and other expenses paid, and photographic outfit supplied.’
When this was an official of personal advertisement is unstated.
