New Orleans, LA, US
[5-7] *[Samuel T. Blessing] "Published by...";
87 Canal St. & 24 Charters St.; Photographic
Supply House & Pub., 63-69; issued several exc.
series: "New Orleans Summer Resorts"; "Views of
New Orleans, La. & Vicinity"; "Louisiana
Scenery"; "New Orleans in the Stereoscope";
"City of the Dead", views of cemeteries in New
Orleans; several B/Ls, consistently fine major
coverage, 700+ numbers, city scenes, steamboats,
river front, Mardi Gras, hunting/fishing,
animals, flowers/plants, Indians. Partnership
with Samuel Anderson, 56-63; some doubt as to
how many views were by Blessing or his photogs.,
and how many from other sources; he seems to
have been primarily a publisher, especially
after parting from Anderson; some views have
only notation of "Sold by...". B. 32, D. 97, St
