Stereographs project Business locations New York City, NY, US [1-2] Only known output was one certain, several
others probable, sets of 15 views for the
American Mutoscope & Biograph Co. of NYC for use
in their coin-operated arcade viewers. These
were on gray/gray RMs & depicted comic or mildly
pornographic sequences; one view seen has his
imprint & CR date scratched in neg.; one other
has same imprint but mostly illegible. All seen
have set & position #s for the card scratched in
the neg. Many seen bear rubber-stamp of A.F.
Foote, Commissioner of the Mass. Department of
Public Safety (their censorship group)
permitting the views to be exhibited on Sunday,
dating in the 20s. SEE the entry for the
American Mutoscope & Biograph Co. for a fuller
discussion of this late stereo operation. T.K. Treadwell & William C. Darrah (Compiled by), Wolfgang, Sell (Updated by), 11/28/2003, Photographers of the United States of America, (National Stereoscopic Association) |
