Baur's oeuvre has undergone renewed attention, due largely in part to the recent publication - Max Baur in the Bauhaus Spirit: Photographs, 1925-1960 (2001). His life and career choices were affected greatly by the two World Wars. He began in publishing, ultimately taking a keen interest in the experimental medium of photography as a business. He made postcard images of scenes throughout Germany that illustrate how strongly he was influenced by the graphic work being carried out at the Bauhaus. His most remarkable and precise images were taken between 1934 and 1953, when Baur settled in Potsdam near Berlin. Literature: Steins, Stephan, Max Baur in the Bauhaus Spirit: Photographs, 1925-1960.
