Opened a photographic studio in 1863, produced "vistas mexicanas" illustrating civil and
religious architecture and landscapes and published the Álbum Fotográfico Mexicano. Had a photographic studio in Peubla, Mexico (1870–1915) and from 1873 made a series of Mexican tipos. He is considered first Mexican photo reporter.
