A French explorer and anthropologist who led a French expedition to research the geography and peoples of the Venezuelan Amazon. His book " L’Ore´noque et le Caura: relation de voyages exe´cute´s en 1886 et 1887 " (Paris, 1889) was very popular in France. Jules Verne's 45th volume of the 54 Extraordinary Voyages series is entitled "Superb Orénoque" and is based upon the work of Chaffanjon.Preparing biographies | | Portraits
