Artist"; 10 & 21 Queen St.; one of best Canadian workers; issued several series: "Hamilton and Vicinity"; "Beauties of the Earth"; "Glimpses of Toronto"; "Ottawa Views, Capitol of the Dominion"; "1,000 Islands, River St. Lawrence"; "The Scenery of the Northern Lakes of Canada"; "Picturesque Canada"; "Gems of Statuary"; "Picturesque America", "Central Park, New York", etc.; coverage mostly scy., few genre, people; ÷1000 fine views in some 15 series, some common, others quite rare; also made rare glass views. Took over George Esson, his father's photog. business, 74; between late 70s and early 80s traveled across Canada & U.S. taking hundreds of views; reportedly had a collection of 5000 negs.; 84 built a new studio in Preston at 105 King St.; seems to have closed down business 2/20. Listed in Preston 75-20; B. 8/10/53, D. ÷33.
