[5-0] *[James Wallace Black] "Photographer"; worked in area almost 50 years; issued scarce views of Boston area, scy., aqueduct under const. 76-77; genre; studio port. of the Fisk Jubilee Singers, 72-73; Boston fire, fancy residences, Newport; sometimes used blindstamp; made CDVs. In partnerships with John A. Whipple, 56-59, with Batchelder in Boston, 60-61, with Case in Boston, 65-66, John Dunmore was son-in-law; worked with him & was principal photog. 80-94; George Critcherson was also associated with him in some way at various times; sponsored them as photogs. on Wm. Bradford's expedition to Greenland, 69; issued some of images as lantern slides, exhibited at 76 Centennial Expo. Listed in Boston 53-55, 60, 62-64, & 67-01. B. 25, D. 91 (96?). Name also found as "& Co.".
