Issued "Hughes Stereoscopic Views of Mobile & Vicinity"; "Hughes Instantaneous Views of the Alabama River"; prob. made ~50 in MS, 20 in AL. Early ones on SCMs, later on CMs. Local scy., homes, plantations, stone-working shop; whites & blacks, farming scenes, Mobile race track. While views are generally undistinguished he was an important worker since there were very few photographers in the south during 60s; B. ~41. listed at St. Louis, MO 61-63; followed Union Army to Vicksburg, MS early 63 ("Rooms over McGraw's Drug Store"); Natchez, MS 63-65; Mobile, AL 69-70s
