Stereographs project Business locations Keene, NH, US Honolulu, HI, US Hamilton, Bermuda [6-8] *"Portrait & Landscape Photographer"; "Cosmopolitan Photographic Gallery", 64 and 66 Fort St., Honolulu; issued ~300 views of NH, few
of VT, scenery & genre which look original,
several B/Ls; issued uncommon ones of NY, CO,
midwest, CA, most and prob. all pirated. Views
were often personalized for sale by retailers
such as H.C. Newton of Keene. Much of his
career nebulous; since many of his non-NH views
of the U.S. are clearly pirated, question arises
as to source of all of the non-NH work. Issued
rare HI views, "Hawaiian Scenes", most of Oahu,
few of Hilo; hula dancers, plantations, city
streets, beach, church, Rainbow Falls, etc. on
CMs & RMs. Said to have been active in HI 60,
although views look much later than that.
unknown whether he was long-term resident of HI,
although he had a business address there.
Issued scarce views of Bermuda, source unknown.
Bermuda connection even more nebulous; uncertain
whether he even visited there. It would be
useful to check the Keene, NH records to try to
pin his movements down.
B/Ls, 300+ NH scy., genre; views of HI scarce [7], of Bermuda rare [2]. Had a street address in HI at some point, but no record of him in Bermuda; unclear whether his views of there are original or pirated. T.K. Treadwell & William C.
