Stereographs project Business locations New Hampton, NH, US Lincoln, NH, US [6-8] [Henry S. Fifield] "Photographer", most active 60s; specialized in souvenir views of
tourists under the hanging boulder in the
Franconia Flume; many hundreds produced, each
unique. His general scenic views of NH are much
rarer and undistinguished. Issued rare NYC
views, bldgs., boats in harbor, few of
Catskills, one identical with a view issued by
J. Loeffler; J.N. Robinson of Baskingridge, NJ
also pub. same series of Catskills views as did
Fifield. Actual photog. for these images
unknown but prob. Loeffler. Sometimes said to
have been killed when the boulder in the
Franconia Flume fell on him; this is untrue; he
stopped photographing people in the Flume after
it fell, but he wasn't present; it fell during a
heavy thunderstorm. T.K. Treadwell & William C. Darrah (Compiled by), Wolfgang, Sell (Updated by), 11/28/2003, Photographers of the United States of America, (National Stereoscopic Association) |
