32 S. 16th St. Views under Griffith's own
imprint scarce & early; as Griffith & Griffith
issued #s into 15,000s; prob. fewer actual
images. Was major producer, pub. both photo. &
lithographed versions of many images. Broad
coverage, many series of scenics, genre,
Colombian Exposition, Chicago World's Fair",
etc. Marketed views of H.L. Roberts (successor
to Roberts and Fellows, in turn successors to
Edward L. Wilson) and William H. Rau; 97 added
the line of M.H. Zahner of Niagara Falls. Had
been a canvasser for Underwood & Underwood; in
90, began photog. in the US, Europe and Asia to
build file of original negs.; about 96, teamed
with his brother (have been unable to find his
name) and organized co. patterned after U&U;
estab. branch offices worldwide; co. continued
operations until 17, but few titles added after
12; all sales were by canvassers. Negatives are
reported to have gone to Keystone Co. but this
not verified. In late 1970s/early 1980s dozens of uncut sheets of G&G assorted lithoviews ~29"
x 44" appeared on markets in Holland & US;
source unknown but don't appear to be
