few hundred actually made; scy., falls, mtns.,
Ute country, many int. & important views of
towns, activities, mining camps; on CMs; also
made SI formats. Some have C.H. Clark of
Gunnison overprint; unknown whether Clark was
just retail outlet or had bought Mellen negs.
Worked for W.H. Jackson in Denver 89-93 and many
of Mellen's images were pub. by Jackson. Active
occasionally in Gunnison, Colorado Springs
(86-88), Denver and Manitou Springs 82-90.
Prob. in partnership with Barker in Gunnison
70s. In 88 the Colo. Springs directory lists a
William Mellon associated with George E.
Imprint also seen as "& Co.". Disappears from
directories after 93.
