Active: | Equatorial Guinea / Gabon | One of the earliest African photographers. He was commissioned in the 1870s by the Spanish governor Diego Santisteban to take a series of fourteen photographs of Santa Isabel, Fernando Po’s capital. Fernando Po is now known as Bioko or Bioco and is a part of Equatorial Guinea in West Africa. His photographs were shown at colonial exhibitions in Gabon (1887) and Paris (1900).
There are examples of his work in the British Museum.
