A member of a Belgian Roman Catholic Congregation called the “Scheut” Congregation that carried out missionary work in Inner Mongolia. As a missionary he took photographs for educational purposes of daily life in the area between 1910 and 1939. There was an exhibition of the photographs at the Etnografisch Museum Antwerpen in 1990 with a catalog by J. Van Alphen "Mensen voorbij de Grote Muur.
