Stereographs project Business locations Philadelphia, PA, US [6] Views rare [5], all of Indian ruins at
Copan, Honduras; long desc. on back firmly
attributing them to him, and pub. by Rehn &
Sons, Phila.; all are identical to those in a
series of at least 48 attributed to Osbert
Salvin of England and pub. by Smith, Beck & Beck
of London in 63; not clear who actually took the
views. However, Fitzgibbon was a US citizen who
was elected magistrate on the Island of Roatan
in the 40s, in spite of squabbles with the
British about sovereignty, so he was at least in
the general area where the views were made. T.K. Treadwell & William C. Darrah (Compiled by), Wolfgang, Sell (Updated by), 11/28/2003, Photographers of the United States of America, (National Stereoscopic Association) |
