Photographer of the American west. In 1906 Darius Kinsey and his wife Tabitha gave up their photographic studio in Seattle (WA, USA) and decided to concentrate on documenting the logging industry and the landscapes of the American northwest. Darius took the photographs and Tabitha developed and printed them. A collection of over 4,700 of their negatives and 600 prints is in the Whatcom Museum (121 Prospect St., Bellingham, WA 98225).

[9-0] "*Publisher"; "Photographer"; "Darius Kinsey's View Publishing House"; "Original Stereographs Sold Only By Canvassers". Late but prolific and important worker in northwest. B. 71 in Maryville, MO, D. 45; moved to WA ~91; taught by Mrs. Spaulding in Seattle on fundamentals of camera operation; married at 25 and set up his studio in Sedro-Wooley in his home; wife did developing and printing of his views; 08 opened a studio in Seattle. Emphasized NW areas, subjs.; "Western Washington Stereoscopic Views", first series, CR 02, second series CR 03; specialty was views of logging, loggers, etc., #'s to 845; issued views of Yosemite, Niagara Falls, Washington, DC, most or all prob. bought or pirated; pub. a limited line of rare southern CA views; also worked in SI formats.
