[5-7] *[First name prob. Deblois; often seen as DeLoss or Delos] "Artist", "Photographer"; 132 Pierrepont St., Brooklyn; several addresses in Boston; issued early "American Historical Series", CR 59, extremely rare; "New England" series; issued ~800 fine views, notably of Saratoga, Boston, NYC, genre, Niagara, Queenstown and Quebec, Sing Sing prison; Hudson River; on RMs; often used blind-stamp; often scratched # into neg. First name variously spelled in refs., and CR line on his American Historical Series reads "Deblois Barnum". SEE NSA Viewlist series for listing of views. Also issued CDV, cabinet & SI prints which are much rarer than stereos. Listed in Boston 56-59 and Roxbury 60, worked later in NYC and Cortland. Life relatively unknown, but one of the finest landscape photogs.; D. early 70s. SEE Institute for Photographic Research Monog. on him.
