The first official photographer to the royal court of Benin, Nigeria covering the reigns of Oba Akenzua II (1933–78) and Oba Erediauwa (1979–present). For over fifty years he documented the life of the royal family and its private and public activities leaving a legacy of over 3000 photographs.
 
An exbition of his work was shown at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art (September 17, 2014–September 13, 2015).
