| Active: | Malaysia / Singapore / Indonesia | German commercial photographer active in what is now Malaysia (Malay Archipelago) and Indonesia between 1889 and 1916. First he was a patner in Kleingrothe & Stafhel and then as a sole proprietor as C.J. Kleingrothe. He carried out detailed work documenting the entire processes in the production of tobacco, coffee, tea, rubber and palm oil industries. In around 1907 he produced and published a portfolio of around 130 photogravures - Malay Peninsula: Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States. He also undertook commissions for companies including Amsterdam-Deli Company and the Senebah Company.
