Graves] "Publisher & General Manager"; "Sold only by Agents for the Universal Photo Art Co."; 24 N. 9th St., 92-00; durable, productive photographer, publisher, and merchandiser; first notable series was of the Johnstown Flood of 89; #s seen into 4,000s; broad geographic coverage, nicely-done genre. Made own views early, later pirated or bought many images; made views for "Illustragraph Series", pub. by Hawthorne & Sheble Co. Views issued under his own name uncommon, most through a variety of pub. and sellers; for a time his views were distributed by the Globe Photo Art Co., in the 96-04 range by Universal Photo Art Co., "The Art Nouveau (Platino) Stereograph", often with label impressed rather than ink-printed; thereafter as "Graves Stereal Graphs". Assoc. with his father, Jesse A. Graves, in the 70s, active under his own imprint from about 80-10; later in partnership with Charles T. Fellows in Philadelphia, 90s-00s and Greenwood.
