Austrian photographer active in Japan in the 1870s. He formed a partnership with Hermann Andersen known initially as "Stillfried & Andersen" and later as the "Japan Photographic Association". They purchased the negatives of Felice Beato in 1877 and this leads to confusion over who took which photographs.
