He studied Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University but was involved in photography throughout his life. He photographed mining activities in the Yukon, the aftermath of the San Francisco earthquake and Yosemite. He founded the Pillsbury Picture Company and bought a studio in Yosemite and worked on botanical studies of the wild flowers using time-lapse cameras of his own invention.Preparing biographies
