He was the first to recognize that by constructing a classification system of visual features one could improve police work by more easily recognizing criminals and repeat offenders. Bertillon was also involved as a prosecution witness for the infamous Dreyfus case in France where his evidence on handwriting helped to wrongly convict Dreyfus.Preparing biographies
