Educated at Glasgow. Arrived in India 17 Nov 1882 as 1st Assistant, Archaeological Survey of Southern India.[1] Architect. Superintendent of the Archaeological Survey, Southern India, retired, 16 Oct 1913 Editor of Indian architecture.
Photographed architectural subjects for the Archaeological Survey of India in 1880s.
Buried in Wesleyan Church, Bangalore, 5 Feb 1921.[2]
