*[Claude-Marie Ferrier [father], Alexandre Ferrier [son], and Charles Soulier] also found as Ferrier, Pere & Fils or P. & F. [father & son], and Ferrier & Son. Major producer of fine European views, esp. glass; many of U.S. locs., incl. MN, Niagara, etc.; CA views from J.J. Reilly negs., some on glass; #'s to 11,000; photogs. unknown; started making stereoslides of Holyland in the late 50s, from views taken by F.M. Good, Frith and others; also produced latern slides from stereo halves. Alexandre worked independently briefly, than joined father; Ferriers joined by Soulier in late '50s; succeeded by J. Levy, an assistant, in 64; J. Leon, another assistant, joined into partnership of Leon & Levy about 66. Ferrier, and later F&S, often used wide lens separation for distant views to enhance the depth effect; view of Paris from Notre Dame had 15 yards separation.
