[William Armstrong, Daniel Manders Beere, Humphrey Lloyd Hime] "Engineers, Draughtsmen and Photographists"; estab. early 57 when Hime joined the firm of Armstrong & Beere. Issued "Western Canada" series, views of Toronto, Niagara Falls, Lake Superior, wreck of SS MONARCH, etc. on SCMs; views of construction of Univ. College 57. Stereoviews likely taken by Armstrong. Firm listed 57-58 directory as "ambrotypists and photographists", and also as civil engineers & draftsmen; Armstrong worked alone in Toronto, 64-70; Hime was prob. most active photog. and worked alone in Toronto, 50s-60s, most known for non-stereo views of western Canada. Little known about Daniel Beere who was B. Ireland, a relative of Armstrong's, & left Canada. Not clear if he ever worked alone; Canadian photos by him not known but he was active in New Zealand after leaving Canada; died Melbourne, Australia 09. Listed in Toronto 55-61.
