NEW ONLINE EXHIBITIONS
The following exhibitions have been added to Luminous-Lint with the assistance of collectors, photographers, galleries and public institutions:
Contemporary photography
- Lisa M. Robinson: Snowbound examines the abstract nature of snow covered landscapes.
- Walter Schels: Life before Death handles the uncomfortable issue of certain death. "We all know that we are going to die one day, but it is very difficult to believe that it will really happen to us. Our motivation for this project was to overcome our own fear of facing up to death. The project goes some way to explore this." - Thanks to Walter Schels and journalist Beate Lakotta from Der Spiegel for their assistance with this exhibition.
- Aline Smithson: An Evolving Retrospective currently has an exhibition of her Stains and Shadows and her Hugo series at WallSpace Gallery,
Pioneer Building, 600 First Ave, Suite 322, Seattle (May 13 - June 28, 2008) and I‘m pleased to include this wider selection of her work.
Notable photographers
- Theo Frey: Swiss reportage photography looks at the work of one of the key Swiss photojournalists who worked in the same style as Hans Staub, Gotthard Schuh and Paul Senn. There is currently an exhibition of his work at the Swiss Foundation for Photography, Winterthur, Switzerland (March 1 - August 24, 2008) and I‘d like to thank Peter Pfrunder and Sabine Münzenmaier for their support.
- Aaron Siskind: The Egan Gallery Years 1947-1954 at the Robert Mann Gallery (May 15 - June 28, 2008) explores the abstractions of the real world.
- Van Leo: An Armenian Photographer in Cairo is based on photographs kindly provided by the American Unversity in Cairo with the assistance of Barry Iverson and the Galleria Magenta 52 in Italy.
Themes
- Portraits: Parts of body: Feet is a section of the continuing Photographic Full Body Map project on Luminous-Lint that explores how photographers have recorded each element of the body. Related online exhibitions include those on Hands and Back view. If there are collectors who can assist with photographs of the body I would be most grateful - I‘m particularly interested in 19th and early 20th century photographs of eyes, ears, genitalia, breasts, skulls, knees and elbows in any format. Medical photography and x-rays are also of interest - many thanks, Alan - alan@luminous-lint.com
- Architecture: Bridges provides an overview of how famous, and not so famous, photographers have recorded bridges. This exhibition includes rare photographs of bridges under construction and numerous organizations have assisted in providing examples.
Ephemera
- Ephemera: Evites may be the first online exhibition to showcase the digital invitations for exhibitions, art fairs and photographically related events.
I‘m delighted to say that collaborations are underway that will show many remarkable exhibitions of previously unpublished collections over the coming months. Each of these is another piece of the rich photo-mosaic that is Luminous-Lint - thanks for your support and as always join in when you can - Alan.
