In the last two weeks the following exhibitions have been released on Luminous-Lint:
Contemporary photography
Nineteenth century, vintage and photobooks
- Portugal 1934 includes examples from this propaganda volume produced by the right-wing Salazar regime in Portugal. We are always interested in preparing exhibitions on significant photobooks and welcome suggestions.
- Barbara Levine & Kirsten Jensen in Around the World: The Grand Tour in Photo Albums provide examples from their new book (Princeton Architectural Press, 2007).
On Luminous-Lint we continue to explore many diverse aspects of photography and other exhibitions include
Mugshots,
Street vendor photography from San Francisco,
Photo-jewelry in the nineteenth century,
Photo postcards: The People‘s Photography,
Photo postcards of African Americans and
Vernacular photographs in the Accidental Mysteries series from the collection of John and Teenuh Foster.
- Finally two exhibitions on trees have been improved as new photograph scans have arrived in from galleries and collectors - the first
Trees: A 19th century perspective includes examples by Henry Fox Talbot, John Dillwyn Llewelyn, Roger Fenton, Gustave Le Gray, Firmin Eugčne Le Dien, Eugčne Cuvelier and many others.
The second exhibition, Trees: A Pictorialist perspective, shows the changes in style that took place with the Photo-Club of Paris (1894-), Wiener Photographische Blätter: Herausgegeben Vom Camera-Club In Wien, Die Kunst in der Photographie and the London Salon.

Photo LA is the leading event on the West Coast for collectors and connoisseurs of fine photography and Luminous-Lint
will be there as we were last year. Many of you will be in Los Angeles for this fair and I hope that you will come over to say hello.

- Biographies
If you have prepared a biography on a significant photographer please send it through. You retain all rights and will be fully credited. You may well be the only person that has researched a particular person and you will assist us all. Your older exhibition catalogues and books may provide a wealth of material that can be mounted and shared.

 | To celebrate the 100th anniversary of color photography Pam Roberts has authored an authoritative overview A Century of Colour Photography: From the autochrome to the digital age and the publisher Carlton Books has kindly supplied some copies for us to give away on Luminous-Lint.

Laura Gilpin (1891, 22 April - 1979, 30 November) died - US, NM, Santa Fe.
American photographer.
Wendell MacRae (1896, 10 July - 1980, 30 November) died.
Photographed the construction of the ‘Rockefeller Center‘ (1934-1937). |
