Photo LA (Thu Jan 10, 2008 - Sun Jan 13, 2008)

Photo LA

Photo LA is the leading event on the West Coast for collectors and connoisseurs of fine photography and Luminous-Lint will be there as we were last year. Many of you will be in Los Angeles for this fair and I hope that you will come over to say hello.

Collaborating to create better resources for all
  1. Exhibitions under preparation requiring further examples
    • New Objectivity (Neue Sachlichkeit) photographers - particularly Helmar Lerski (1871-1956)
    • Camera lucida, magic lanterns and early optical devices
    • Daguerreotypes by William Edward Kilburn (1818 - 1891)
    • 19th century photography in South and Central America
    • Photo-Id cards of famous and/or infamous people
  2. Biographies

If you have prepared a biography on a significant photographer please send it through. You retain all rights and will be fully credited. You may well be the only person that has researched a particular person and you will assist us all. Your older exhibition catalogues and books may provide a wealth of material that can be mounted and shared.

Thanks for all your support and friendship,
Alan Griffiths

Competition - No. 3 is ongoing...
Book coverTo celebrate the 100th anniversary of color photography Pam Roberts has authored an authoritative overview A Century of Colour Photography: From the autochrome to the digital age and the publisher Carlton Books has kindly supplied some copies for us to give away on Luminous-Lint.

For our ongoing competition I‘d like to hear about a 19th century photographer not included on this website who should be! So send through your suggestion with any biographical details you have - dates etc and the reason the person should be included to comp3@luminous-lint.com with the name of the suggested photographer as the subject line. Two winners will be selected at random and will be announced in a future newsletter. Good luck.
