Watzek, 1848-1903, became a professor of drawing in 1874 and later began a serious interest in photography in 1891 after viewing the work in the Vienna international photographic exhibition. (Naef-page #479) In 1905, two years after his death, Alfred Stieglitz published six of his photographs as gravures in his journal Camera Work.
