Curatorial description (Accessed: 30 July 2019)
Photograph of Kazan Cathedral in St Petersburg. The cathedral has a dome, a central pediment and a long curved colonnade. In front of the cathedral there is a cobbled courtyard with a pile of building materials to the right. This photograph is from an album of handwritten and printed documents and photographs collected by Captain Oliver Montagu during the 1874 visit to Russia by the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. They had travelled to Russia to attend the wedding of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Saxe-Coburg & Gotha to Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, the daughter of Alexander II.
