A boy wearing an oilcloth military cap and waving a small Star Spangled banner appears to be ready for a parade. Pinned to his patriotic sash is a ribbon upon which is printed “Brotherly Love” and, below it, smaller letters that may indicate a fraternal lodge. He also wears a waist belt plate that is difficult to decipher and a tin cup.
