Elliott & Fry
The Royal Hand-Bell Ringers
n.d.

Cabinet card
Paul Frecker

LL/12059

An interesting cabinet print showing the Royal Hand-Bell Ringers and Glee Singers, with their carillion of 131 bells. The costume is that of courtiers of the time of Edward IV, A.D.1470 - according to a printed paper label pasted to the back of the mount.

The men are identified as J.H.Williams, A Berridge, Duncan S. Miller (conductor), W.J.Harvart, and H.Harvart.

The photographer is the studio of Elliott and Fry at 55 and 56 Baker Street, London. The partnership was founded in 1863, operating at 55, Baker Street from 1865. The premises at 56, Baker Street were added in 1887, so this print probably dates from the late-1880's. The company remained in Baker Street at various addresses until 1963, when it was incorporated into Bassano and Vandyck.
