| Auguste Rosalie Bisson Philaé, Temple Hypèthre [L’Egypte: Vues Photographiques] 1869 Albumen print 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 ins Archive Farms LL/65041 Bisson started working for Leon & Levy in 1868 after Bisson Freres went bankrupt in 1866, and was commissioned by them to visit Egypt for nine months in 1869 with Edward Welling. He witnessed the opening of the Suez Canal and traveled as far as the 2nd cataract of the Nile. The French Bibliotheque Nationale has two albums in their collection from this trip labeled “L’Egypte: Vues Photographiques”
