Hinton (1863-1908) a founder member of the British Linked Ring Brotherhood, was editor of the Amateur Photographer. Speaking of Hinton, J. Dudley Johnson said about Hinton: "I think it was Horsley Hinton who has exercised the most profound influence on British landscape photography and raised it to a higher plane of imaginative vision.....During his brief career - 1889 to 1907 - he was the greatest force operating in the sphere of British photography."
